Pixie Lott + Oliver Cheshire’s Wedding at Ely Cathedral, Cambridgeshire

Pixie Lott and Oliver Cheshire’s Wedding at Ely Cathedral, Voted Top 8 Weddings of 2022 by Vogue

It was an absolute pleasure and a career highlight to capture Pixie Lott and Oliver Cheshire’s wedding at Ely Cathedral in June 2022. Their day had a quintessential garden wedding vibe surrounded by the dramatic gothic architecture of the historic building and a beautiful, luxurious aesthetic reminiscent of a high-end fashion event.

Whilst it was an incredible day, as is often the case with high-profile events, there was a lot to consider, manage and capture throughout. From the 300 guests (plus press) to navigating the (wet) weather and ensuring all cameras and mics were where they needed to be at the perfect time.

Their wedding film is a wonderful insight into the special day and official union of this brilliant couple. It was a day they had waited a long time for; therefore, they ensured it was jam-packed with timeless style, entertainment and surprises around every corner. This included a 22-person flash mob gospel choir who delighted everyone with an incredible ‘impromptu’ performance mid-wedding ceremony (epic!), live music and dance sequences throughout the day (including a brass band and McFly singer Danny Jones), and a hidden speakeasy with bespoke cocktails and showgirls.

“We’ve waited so long for this wedding. I just wanted everyone to have the best time.”

The whole day was impeccably planned, designed and executed by Alice Wilkes, a luxury wedding planner and event designer renowned for managing exceptional weddings and luxurious brand events, which I have also had the pleasure of shooting. Alice, along with florist Sophie’s Flower Co, truly brought the couple’s ideas and aspirations to life with a large marquee on the grounds of Ely Cathedral bursting with swathes of early summer flowers, armfuls of foliage and even some young saplings to enhance the floral spectacle.

Pixie Lott and her fiancé Oliver Cheshire originally got engaged at St Paul's Cathedral but exchanged vows in Ely Cathedral; in fact, Pixie got ready there too, which was perfect for us suppliers - not having to move between multiple venues on such a high-stakes day. Caroline Barnes, Givenchy Beauty did the makeup, Larry King looked after the hair and Pixie’s stunning ivory wedding gown, which had a 4.5 metre-long train and was embellished with thousands of Swarovski seed beads, was designed and created by Daniel Roseberry at Schiaparelli. The long dress train really added to the drama as she walked down the impressive aisle at Ely Cathedral, arm in arm with her father, to meet her new husband. She looked absolutely stunning and subtly changed her bridal look throughout the day.

From the first kiss to the live band, it was quite a challenging day logistically, but it was magnificent and memorable thanks to the brilliant creative team, the incredible production and the electric atmosphere from dawn to dusk. I shouldn't have expected anything less from a pop star wedding with celebrity guests such as Lady Emma Weymouth, Sabrina Elba and McFly star Danny Jones' wife Georgia Horsley. Anyway, I’d love for you to give their wedding film a watch to view their wedding love story in full.
